A few months back I was reading an article on The Guardian's website about a Portland, Oregon writer named Todd Grimson. After finishing it I knew that if I ever would decide to end my retirement from reading books (seriously I only read one or two a year), Grimson's grisly tales seemed right up my alley. Lo and behold I used my contacts to get myself a copy of Brand New Cherry Flavor: A Novel of the Occult. The description said "sex, violence, and zombies" , which sold me quick.
Let this serve as a warning to you, this novel is not for the faint of heart, if you can't handle the gore in something like The Walking Dead, then maybe you should steer clear, but then again, maybe that's the fun of it for some people. Anyways I got this book in early December, and you are just getting a review now. Why is that? Because I read very slow for one thing. I only read a page or two at a time, and usually when I'm using the bathroom, my buddy Max calls it "the shitter book", which is really the only way I ever read a physical book nowadays. Sure, between audiobooks and books in PDF form I get a few in now and again, but usually my ears are reserved for music, movies, or video games, or some sort of awesome combination between the three.
