Nine Favorites from The Killers – #MusicMonday Band of the Week

Sawdust - Released November 13th, 2007 in the US, this album of B-sides, covers, and remixes is filled with great tracks top to bottom. This was pre-internet junkie days for DouBle B, so I didn't actually even know about it until months later when I started to realize I loved the Shadowplay song, but even after I heard that I didn't know they released a whole new album. I was still down on Sam's Town, so I was figuring The Killers were a one record, hit it and quit it band for me. I was wrong on that one.

Both of the following songs were recorded at the famed Abbey Road Studios.

Sam's Town - This is a fantastic version of the title track from the second album. My sister Corrie first showed it to me when I was hangin' around at her place in Port Townsend. I went home and listened to it again, and again, and again.

Romeo and Juliet - This is a cover of the Dire Straits song, recorded for the For Reasons Unknown single. I'm a Dire Straits fan, and the original tune is undoubtedly better, but I love cover songs. Well......there it is.
