Ang Lee is a versatile director if I've ever seen one. The first film of his I saw was Eat Drink Man Woman, which had me hooked from the opening scene when it shows the widowed Chinese master chef Chu preparing his family meal. Looked delicious. But it was the engrossing story that made me watch the whole movie, and that's something LEE REALLY excels at. This is shown in his much more famous films Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Brokeback Mountain.
But Lee also shits the bed from time to time (see: Hulk) so I'm not 100% sold that his latest, Life of Pi, based on the 2001 novel by Yann Patel that people, including President Obama, lost their fucking minds for, is going to be a surefire great film.
