1940’s LA Cops Get G’d Up in Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad

Ruben Fleischer, director of Zombieland, is helming a new crime film that shows what looks like cops going vigilante in Los Angeles during the 1940's and 1950's. It's called The Gangster Squad, and it stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, and Sean Penn, who plays East Coast Mafia transplant Mickey Cohen, who was a real G in LA from the 1930's through the 1960's.

The Gangster Squad is based on the book by Paul Lieberman titled Tales from the Gangster Squad. It is set to hit US theaters on October 19th of this year.
