DouBleB’s Oscar Picks – “Actor in a Leading Role”

Down to my final two categories, with tomorrow’s “Best Picture” pick acting as the finale. Believe me, every single one of these is time consuming and important to me, so thank you for reading them, and please, SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS. Especially if you hate them, you can say “look at this idiot”, I don’t care, anything helps.

Todays category is “Actor in a Leading Role” and those who have been following my previous Oscar posts might have a good idea of who I’m going to pick. Those that haven’t should read them, which you can find a link to after the disclaimer.

Disclaimer: I have not seen every single one of this year’s nominated movies, and I probably won’t for reasons that I don’t want to waste my time watching shit that was manufactured  just to get Oscar consideration (I’m looking at a specific movie involving two former Oscar winners). It’s not like I watched every bowl eligible college football team before making my picks. If you don’t like it you can file a complaint here.

For my other picks go to my Oscar Picks Hub.

Demián Bichir in “[amazon_link id="B005IHRBX4" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]A Better Life[/amazon_link]”
Bechir is probably best known to American audiences for his his role of Esteban Reyes on Showtime’s “[amazon_link id="B004YM6JUA" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Weeds[/amazon_link]“, or as Fidel Castro in Che: Part One and Che: Part Two. His parents, Alejandro Bichir and Maricruz Nájera, are both well known in Mexico, as are his brothers, Odiseo and Bruno Bichir.

George Clooney in “[amazon_link id="B004UXUX4Q" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]The Descendants[/amazon_link]”

The other day I was up late and decided watching a little tv was a good idea. My best two choices were “[amazon_link id="B001OST0M6" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Batman and RobiN[/amazon_link]” or a rerun of a womens basketball game. What did I do? Turn that shit off and play video games. Seriously, I don’t understand the hype behind this movie. But then again I didn’t like [amazon_link id="B001JNNDCY" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Sideways[/amazon_link] either.

Jean Dujardin in “The Artist”

With the success of The Artist, you wonder what Dujardin is going to do next. I’m sure many studios were jacked to get him into a villain role, but Funny or Die pretty much killed that idea……….for now.

Gary Oldman in “[amazon_link id="B0059XTTXC" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy[/amazon_link]”
Oldman is Rika’s favorite actor. I never knew how great he was until I saw [amazon_link id="B002O5M4SA" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]The Professional[/amazon_link], and ever since I have made an effort to see each of his performances. I was shocked to see that this is his first Oscar nomination. Look for him as commissioner Gordon in this Summer’s “The Dark Knight Rises”.

Oh yeah, it disappoints me that Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullocks star power alone carried “[amazon_link id="0547735022" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close[/amazon_link]” to  a Best Picture nominee and  bullied better films like “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” out of contention. I thought this movie was excellent, like top five excellent. Oh, I’ve said that before?

Brad Pitt in “[amazon_link id="B0060ZJ78U" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Moneyball[/amazon_link]”

Moneyball, Shmoneyball. Average sports flick. I might watch it again if Pitt knocks it out of the park in [amazon_link id="B000JMKQX0" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]World War Z[/amazon_link]. Again, wheres the fucking trailer for that movie?

AND THE WINNER IS………….

DouBleBs Oscar Picks Actor in a Leading Role

tinkertailor DouBleBs Oscar Picks Actor in a Leading RoleOldman is at his best in what was my favorite performance of the year, along with Andy Serkis as Ceasar in [amazon_link id="B004LWZW4W" target="_blank" container="" container_class="" ]Rise of the Planet of the Apes[/amazon_link]. I hope he takes home the prize next week but the odds are he won’t. That’s a shame.
